A short interview with Ceci Cook:

Your first job: I started working at the age of twelve, selling groceries in my dad's shop. My first job as an adult was at Telecom Business Sales in Auckland, New Zealand, as an admin.

First Volunteer Job:Best memory ever is that I was a member of our local youth group in Vavau, Kingdom of Tonga, called ‘Lataki’. Once a month we’d collect food and visit the prisoners in jail. We would eat and pray together. These are some of my most powerful memories. I've also volunteered at Crisis At Home Intervention in San Francisco and at the East Palo Alto Senior Center. These days, I serve as a Director at the Sonoma Country Day School Parents’ Board, among others.

Life business experience that contributes to you being a successful agent? This job is about selling, but you are also dealing with the most personal possession and pride of your friends, family, and others.  Now that I live in the wine country and am dealing with selling not just residential but also vineyards, I am reminded so much of my dad's business, farming vanilla. The rows and rows of vines remind me of the vanilla vines I grew up with. It was a long delicate process from leasing the land, to planting, and eventually harvesting. And then comes the hard work of processing and ultimately selling the beans. From beginning to end, it’s years of waiting for the first check to come in. All the while, he maintained a good relationship with the growers. Just like when you're running a vineyard or a vanilla farm, in real estate, the work's never easy. You work hard, best at knowing your craft, become an expert in being rejected, long unpaid hours, and hope you make at least a sale a month. So, hard work, persistence, patience
